Living a healthy lifestyle is about saying yes to life! It’s not just about eating the proper food, getting regular excecise or reducing alcohol/cigarettes... It’s about the choices you make that give you the opportunity to feel your best.
As you know, I am in the midst of training for our special Charity Crossing, and this got me thinking about the simple things we can do to feel our best every day.

Over the last 3 weeks, we have been taking a look at our environment- not just from a kiter/beach user’s perspective, but also from the simple things we can all do to make a difference.
As you might have read, GKF is helping to organize a very challenging crossing to raise funds and awareness for 3 charities… you can read more about it on our projects page.
I’m very excited to be taking part in it- not just as a co-organizer, but also as a participant! I am a little nervous too, of course! I haven’t been in a wetsuit for many, many years- I’m not very good with the cold! But that’s the purpose of a challenge: it’s to push your ‘normal’ to the side for a good cause.
Bye bye high heels, hello booties!

So… the purpose of my note this week is to bring you up to date on how I am getting ready for this! And if you have any suggestions or advice to give, please do!
Last week, we filled you in on some of the awful facts about dirty water- not only about the risks from swimming in it, but also about the damage it causes the environment.
There are lots of simple steps we can take at home or out and about that will help improve our water. Water is our lifeline- we need to conserve and protect it as best we can, whether it’s through our oceans, lakes or local supplies.

Here are Global Kiter Foundation’s top tips to help protect and conserve the water around us.
It is a well known fact that sports is good for us. It teaches us that it takes hard work and sweat to become good at something. It pushes us to strive for perfection and to seek out new challenges.
But there is a lot more to it than the lessons it teaches us. Sports brings us all together in a unique way. Whenever we are at a sport venue, be it the beach, the mountains, or a tennis match, the atmosphere is positive and happy.
Be prepared to be grossed out! This may be unpleasant to read, but that’s exactly why we need to spread the message to do everything we can to protect our waters and environment.
