What is GKF

GKF is a non-profit Foundation, established in 2011 by royal decree in Brussels, Belgium (Registered Charity number: BCE 0833 959 577). It is the only one of its kind in the industry. We have chosen this as it provides transparency, accountability and credibility. Our offices are based in Athens, Greece.

We are using the 100% donation model, where every cent of the public's donation is directly invested in their chosen community project. Accountability is part of our ethos. We will publish our accounts online at the end of each fiscal year. There are also systems of public feedback in place at every level to ensure that quality and standards are kept high. Projects supported by GKF will publish progress reports to show how funding is being used so that you see your donation in action.

Our mission

Our mission is to improve environmental awareness, create community engagement and offer comprehensive education while using kiteboarding as the unique connection point for people with physical disabilities and underprivileged youth.

Through our programs (workshops and continuing education), we:

Create new opportunities for people with a physical disability- from skill development and new skills and independence to a chance for a new career.

In developing countries (Brazil, Mexico, Philippines, Morocco etc) we offer training to the youth to create employment and offer them new career opportunities.

Educate communities about the importance of the wind and our environment, and encourage them to participate in their preservation. Each event also promotes, protects and cleans local beaches and kiting locations.

Participation in the GKF workshops and ongoing educational programs is free. The costs are covered through donations to the Foundation.

This is an unprecedented opportunity to be involved in the winds of change started by GKF. Anyone coming on board will be part of one of the most exciting developments in sport.

GKF doesn’t just give people a vision of what they can achieve- we give them the tools and support to do it over the long term.
